What is Fat

Body fat, or adipose tissue, is made up of individual cells called adipocytes. The primary cell is called White Adipose Tissue.  A lean person has 41 to 65 billion fat cells and obese individual has Over 200 billion fat cells in.

It can range in diameter from 70 to 120 micrometers, which can greatly affect us.

What comprises to FAT?

80 – 95% of White Adipose Tissue  is composed of lipid which the main structural components of cells that are insoluble to water. Fats are a subgroup of lipids call triglycerides and the other   part of fat cells are made of Cytoplasm (~ 15%), which is largely water, certain enzymes and proteins • A tiny nucleus

Lipogeneses

Lipogeneses means the creation of FAT. Our daily diet involves breads, rice, pasta, ( carbs) fruits, veggies and meat.  Our body breaks carbs into simple sugars, such as glucose, which easily passes through your blood stream.   Then Glucose is burned up as energy, with excess glucose being stored as either glycogen (small amount readily available energy stored in  your muscles and liver) or as fat, once the glycogen levels are maxed

Insulin

  1.  Hormone produced in the pancreas, helps direct when lipogenesis should occur
  2.  Insulin is released when your body senses the presence of rising  blood sugar, or blood glucose, levels.
  3.  When you eat a big carbohydrate meal, you get a big insulin  response, which tells your body there's a lot of glucose molecules  that need moved out of your blood.
  4.  Some of this glucose is burned, some is stored as glycogen, and the  rest turns into fat.
  5.  So we can say that insulin helps open up the doorway to lipogenesis and fat storage.

Pupose of FAT

  •  Primary purpose is to store energy efficiently
  •  Triglycerides only require one gram of water per one gram of fat stored – making it more space efficient then carbs or protein
  •  By contrast, carbs are stored as glycogen, requiring 3 – 4 grams of water for  every one gram of stored glycogen
  •  One gram of fat provides more usable energy than either one gram of carbs or  one gram of protein
  • One gram of fat stores up to 9 calories, verses only about 4 grams of calories  for each gram of sugar, starch or protein.
  •  Fat is the most efficient and compact form of energy storage o Also acts as cushion for bones, joints and organs as well as insulation

Visceral Fat

  •   Excessive visceral fat that leads to obesity can lead to disease and  malfunction of the heart, kidneys, liver and stomach.
  •  Excessive intra abdominal visceral fat can also lead to cardiovascular disease  as well as immobility
  • Not removed from liposuction
  •  Not targeted by non-invasive  procedures
  •  Exercise and diet are important  components to achieving weight control

What is Subcutaneous Fat

The “inch you can pinch” layer of fat and most common to  abdomen and chest for men while women experience greater amounts in thighs, buttocks . Response best to liposuction and non-invasive fat reduction.

Do I have to workout?

Non-invasive body contouring treatments can be effective at reducing unwanted fat and improving the appearance of your body. However, incorporating regular exercise into your routine can provide several additional benefits that cannot be achieved through body contouring alone.

Firstly, exercise helps to improve overall health and wellness, including cardiovascular health, bone density, and mental health. It can also improve muscle tone and definition, which can further enhance the results of body contouring treatments.

Secondly, maintaining an active lifestyle can help to prevent future weight gain and the accumulation of new fat deposits. This can help to prolong the results of your body contouring treatments and ensure that you maintain your desired body shape.

Additionally, exercise can boost your metabolism and help you burn more calories throughout the day, even when you're not actively working out. This can lead to additional fat loss and improved overall body composition.

In summary, while non-invasive body contouring treatments can be effective on their own, incorporating regular exercise into your routine can provide a wide range of additional health and wellness benefits and enhance the results of your body contouring treatments.

Rebound & Health Considerations

  •  Proper post treatment care is essential to maintain results following body  contouring procedures
  • If the patient only concerns him/herself with the reduction of subcutaneous  fat, and does not alter lifestyle accordingly to target visceral fat, rebound of  fat deposits is highly probable
  • Thus, practitioners should think of both fats as being related and hence the  selection of the right weight loss and body contouring approach which can  also reduce visceral fat is important
  • Excessive abdominal fat is viewed as much more threatening than  subcutaneous fat on thighs and buttocks
  •  Women larger than 35 inches and men larger than 40 inches are considered  at greater risk for insulin resistance, high cholesterol, cancer, heart disease  and risk of stroke
